The boy's name Mungo is of Scottish and Gaelic origin. Possibly meaning "most dear", Mungo (from "Munghu") is a nickname for the ancient name Kentigern. The seventh-century Saint Kentigern, also known as Saint Mungo, is the patron saint of Glasgow, Scotland. According to one biographer, he was uncle to the legendary King Arthur. The name is also found in Jamaica.
